I like to start by taking a quick measurement of both legs. The measurement of the thighs should be about 2 1/4 inches long. This is the length that a man should measure his torso from the center of his mid thigh to the top of his bicep. For women, the measurement should be about 1 1/2 inches long. Both measurements can be done by using a measuring tape or by taking your foot and stretching it a bit and then taking your thigh and measuring again. For those that prefer the measurements done by a measuring tape, I have provided two photos of the thigh for each person.
The photos are taken at the same time to show what the measurements are. A male will measure a male's thigh about 3 inches longer. In this instance, the measurement is 6 1/4 inches and the woman's is 6 1/2 inches longer. To test the lengths of your measurements, sit on the toilet. If your thigh is longer than the top of your foot, you may want to take your measuring tape to a shoe store and try on some shoes and see if they fit. To make a tape measure, take a long piece of tape and make a small circle.
